The Kiln Room

Twelve around one table, in the restored drying kiln

The kiln is the oldest part of the granary and the only room in the building with a curved brick ceiling. One oak table, twelve chairs, a door that closes, and the kitchen a short walk away. It is the room we put a proposal, a fortieth or a board dinner in, and it works for all three because it does not look like anything in particular — it looks like a very old room with a very good table in it.

The Loading Floor

Up to thirty-two seated, or sixty standing, under the hoist

The first floor still has the loading door in the east wall and the cast-iron hoist above it. Open the door and the room looks straight out over the channel; on a summer evening it is the best view in the building and the reason most people book it. Long tables for a seated dinner, or cleared for a standing reception with the fire counter running snacks.

The whole granary

Both floors, the counter and the garden — up to sixty seated

Exclusive use of the building. The main room, the fire counter, the Kiln Room, the Loading Floor and the beds behind, with the whole brigade cooking for you and nobody else in. We take a small number of these a year, usually for a wedding or a company that wants the kitchen to itself, and we will be honest with you about whether your date is one we can do well.
